Characters & World Building

Rich characters and a well-developed world are the foundation of a great novel. fic.chat provides complete character management, world settings, and foreshadowing tracking to keep AI-generated content consistent with your vision.

Character Management

Switch to the Characters tab to view all characters in your novel. Characters are usually created automatically by AI when generating the outline, with basic info like name, gender, and role type (protagonist, antagonist, supporting, etc.).

Click a character card to view detailed settings: personality, appearance, backstory, speaking style, and more
Character information is provided as context to AI, influencing how each character is portrayed in chapter prose
You can manually edit any character field — AI will reference your changes in subsequent generation

Deep Enrichment

If a character's profile is sparse (for example, only a name and role type), use the 'Deep Enrichment' feature in the AI Assistant. Based on the novel's world settings and existing plot, AI will add:

Personality traits: values, behavioral style, catchphrases
Appearance: physique, facial features, clothing style
Backstory: origins, experiences, relationships with other characters
Speaking style: tone, vocabulary habits, emotional expression

💡 Add special notes in Extra Requirements — e.g., 'the character has a secret past they refuse to discuss' — and AI will weave these into the enrichment result

Generate Character Avatar

After completing Deep Enrichment, you can generate an AI avatar for the character. The avatar is generated based on the character's appearance description and the novel's art style. Generated avatars can be published to the Character Plaza for other users to interact with.

💡 Add descriptive notes when generating an avatar, e.g., 'full body, battle stance, ruined city background', for more precise results

World Settings

Switch to the World Settings tab to manage entries about your story world. World settings are provided as background knowledge to AI, ensuring generated content follows your world's rules. Supported categories include:

Era: The time period and historical backdrop of the story
Geography: World map, important locations, geographic features
Power System: Cultivation systems, technology level, magic rules, etc.
Rules & Laws: The fundamental laws governing how the world operates
Culture & Customs: Social systems, traditions, religious beliefs
Species & Races: Settings for various races and creatures

Foreshadowing Management

Switch to the Foreshadowing tab and click 'Plan Foreshadowing' in the AI Assistant. AI will analyze your outline and automatically plan plot threads that span the entire story. Each foreshadowing thread has three lifecycle stages:

Plant: Introduce the foreshadowing in a specific chapter to leave an impression on readers
Hint: Drop clues in middle chapters to guide readers' thinking
Resolve: Reveal the truth of the foreshadowing in the appropriate chapter

💡 When generating chapters, AI automatically handles the foreshadowing tasks planned for that chapter. You can also manually select specific foreshadowing threads to emphasize in the chapter generation settings
